- Ronin (Royal Oak): Great atmosphere & excellent sushi!
- Asahi (Clinton Twp): A somewhat hidden gem connected to Vince & Joe's Market on Garfield. One of the best sushi places around! And by far the best place on the east side!
- Cherry Blossom (Novi): The most authentic sushi restaurant I've been to in metro Detroit.
- Katana (Royal Oak): The best Japanese steakhouse I've been to in metro Detroit. They also have excellent sushi!
- Tokyo Sushi & Korean BBQ (Shelby Twp): A very good sushi place who also specialize in the Korean dish Bibimbap!
- New Seoul Garden (Southfield): The best Korean BBQ in the area! I like to go with my good friend Susan as she knows exactly what to order!
