Restaurant Review: Chadd's Bistro (Rochester Hills, Michigan)

I am not exactly sure where to start this review because Chadd's Bistro (primarily a salad/sandwich place, with the focus really being on the sandwiches) is phenomenal! A good friend posted on Facebook recently about how good it was, so I checked it out on Yelp. It has a 5-star (out of 5) average rating based on 18 reviews (as of 8/30/13), with only one 4-star review. I decided it was finally time to try Chadd's tasty treats.

I stopped at Chadd's after rollerblading one evening (I figured I'd add back on the calories that I burned off). There were a couple of customers in there. They said they come regularly and have never had anything bad. They said the sandwiches they were eating were great and went on to tell me about a few others that they liked.

The sandwich board is a bit intimidating as there are a lot of choices, all of which sound fantastic. I studied the board for a good 5 minutes before choosing "The Fat Steve" (roast beef, pastrami, cheddar & provolone cheese, grilled onions and in my case house Russian dressing instead of spicy mustard on grilled rye bread). I also ordered their fresh-cut fries with their homemade Ranch dressing and Cheesy Ham & Broccoli soup. I got this order to go and took it home to eat.

I proceeded to eat all of this and once finished, posted this to Facebook: "I may have just had the best sandwich I've EVER had (The Fat Steve) from Chadd's Bistro..OM-F'ing-G! There WILL be a blog post in the very near future!"

So yeah...the sandwich was amazing. So were the fries, the Ranch (hands down the best I've ever had) and the soup. Not only was this the best sandwich I've ever had, it's one of the best MEALS I've ever had. All of Chadd's ingredients (where possible) are homemade (including their corned beef & pastrami)...their bread, their dressings, they cut the fries, they debone the ham for the soup, make the soup stock, etc. And all of that comes out when you eat their food. Their website says: "Chadd’s Bistro uses the finest ingredients available like our locally baked fresh bread, high quality meats and fresh vegetables to maximize the flavor potential. Prepare your tastebuds to be overwhelmed with an onslaught of flavor!" My tastebuds were indeed overwhelmed with how awesome their food is. They take the time & effort to produce a high quality product by using high quality ingredients and it shows...wow!

I am looking forward to trying everything on that sandwich board. It may take me awhile, but I know I will love the experience. If there is a better deli in metro Detroit, I hope to find it. If there is a better deli outside of New York City, I hope to find it. I know Zingerman's in Ann Arbor is incredible, but this place can hold its own against Zingerman's sandwiches and it's a very small place, not massive like Z's.

I think I've written enough, mostly since it's making me hungry to have another sandwich from Chadd's!

Better yet...go there today!
