Movie Review: "We Bought a Zoo" (2011)
I recently watched "We Bought a Zoo" and was pleasantly surprised as I really liked it. It is a very wholesome, family-oriented movie with a great story & some good acting. And as he does so well, Cameron Crowe (writer & director) does a good job pulling at your heartstrings.
Matt Damon does a nice job playing a recently widowed father of 2 (a boy & a girl) who is doing all he can to keep it together while trying to be a father to his kids. He decides that they need to move somewhere else in order to get away from the memories of his wife, so they buy a house in the country that also has a zoo. Scarlett Johansson also does a good job playing the head zookeeper at this small zoo.
This movie is well-made and very enjoyable. And it contains one of my favorite quotes from movies that I've watched recently. In response to his son using the word "whatever", Matt Damon's character Benjamin Mee says: "'Whatever' is the laziest word of the 20th Century, alright?!" I couldn't agree more!
All in all, I really enjoyed this movie...8.0/10 stars
