TV Show Review: "Sherlock"

The Brits continue to produce quality TV shows that rival some of the best shows that are being produced in the U.S. For me, the latest of these is "Sherlock" which is a modern take on the Sherlock Holmes' detective stories. The 2 short seasons of this show are some of the finest television drama that I've seen...and that's saying a lot! After finishing the 2nd season, I found myself asking for more. Fortunately, more episodes are forthcoming in 2013.

Sherlock is played bloody brilliantly (haha!) by Benedict Cumberbatch. His performance brings the right amount of quirkiness, wit, oddness, cockiness and logic to Holmes. His rapid-fire dialogue with everyone will keep the viewer on their toes. You have to pay very close attention to everything Holmes says & does or you will simply get lost. And Cumberbatch plays this role perfectly. I honestly cannot imagine anyone doing a finer job than him.

Martin Freeman (Bilbo Baggins to be!) plays Watson and he too delivers a stellar performance. He brings a nice balance to Cumberbatch's sometimes frenetic Holmes by bringing him a bit down to earth.

And Andrew Scott plays Moriarty with the precise degree of psychoticness!

The show itself brings comedy, wit & drama (sometimes dark) to the viewer in a tightly woven package. The deduction sequences flow quickly & precisely and must be followed closely...pause & rewind actions are a must! Plot twists abound. Steven Moffat (who brought us the brilliant comedy "Coupling") has created a series that is dramatic, funny and very intricate.

This show is a must for those who love a quality drama...9.0/10 stars

This is one of my favorite shows. Plus, Benedict Cumberbatch is the best name ever.

You're right, you definitely don't want to multitask while watching it... there's too much goodness to miss.
