Movie Review: "Sherlock Holmes - A Game of Shadows" (2011)

I watched "Sherlock Holmes - A Game of Shadows" during the summer & am finally getting around to writing a short review of it!

I liked this Sherlock Holmes movie much more than the first. It wasn't as bombastic as the first and didn't try to modernize Holmes while keeping him in the late 19th century (unlike the brilliant BBC TV show "Sherlock" which actually BRINGS Holmes into the 21st century...that review will show up one of these days!).

Anyway...I thought this was a well-written movie that contained less action than the first and was a bit more cerebral, which is why I think I liked it more than the first. I also thought that the performances by Robert Downey, Jr. as Holmes & Jude Law as Watson were good. And the always great Jared Harris did an excellent job playing Moriarty. This is a very entertaining movie that kept me engaged at all times.

I definitely liked this movie...7.0/10 stars
