I watched the HBO movie "Hemingway & Gellhorn" and liked it. It's a well-made movie which is no surprise as HBO generally does a good job with their movies. While it did drag at times, it's still a good movie.
This movie is about the tumultuous relationship between Ernest Hemingway (played by Clive Owen) and Martha Gellhorn (played by Nicole Kidman). The relationship takes place during a pivotal time in world history spanning their time spent covering the Spanish Civil War & subsequently World War II. The performances by both Owen & Kidman were excellent and I won't be surprised if they are nominated for Emmys. And I think Kidman may wind up winning one...
I also liked this movie because I was not familiar at all with Gellhorn much less her relationship with Hemingway. Learning something new is always a good thing!
And Lars Ulrich from Metallica plays the Dutch documentarian Joris Ivens...how cool is THAT?
This is not a great movie, but it is good...6.5/10 stars
