Movie Review: "Young Adult" (2011)
"Young Adult" is most definitely the correct name for this movie because of how the lead character (Mavis) acts throughout the whole movie.
Cherlize Theron does a great job of acting in this movie as she plays a woman who acts less mature at the age of 37 than most people do at the age of 17. She is an arrogant, bitchy, stuck-up, delusional woman who creates uncomfortable moments for her & everyone else she interacts with. She has little to no redeeming qualities, outside of her good looks. But those fade quickly due to her personality.
Patton Oswalt also gives a great acting performance as Matt, Mavis' voice of reason.
I found this movie to be an interesting take on the "going back home" part of life that so many of us go through. Only until the end does Mavis realize that "back home" just isn't the place for her.
Overall, I liked this movie...7.0/10 stars
