Restaurant Review: Prime 29 Steakhouse (West Bloomfield, Michigan)
I recently had an opportunity to try Prime 29 in West Bloomfield, Michigan for dinner and I wasn't disappointed. I wouldn't put this steakhouse in the same class as Ruth's Chris or Fleming's or even Big Rock in Birmingham, but it is still a very good restaurant and I would go back there. It is also much more casual than the typical dark steakhouse and it is much more contemporary looking & well lit.
My friend and I started out with the Crispy Calamari with Tomato Salsa & Tomato Garlic Aioli. This is a very good appetizer and as someone who loves calamari, I found it to be very tasty.
For an entree, my friend had the Chilean Sea Bass (Miso Glazed, Cauliflower, Fennel Purée) which I took a taste of and I liked it (I am a big fan of Chilean Sea Bass & this was almost as good as my favorite version of it which I always get at Mitchell's).
For our side dishes, we chose the Brussels Sprouts and the Three Cheese Truffle “Mac” which were both tasty. The sprouts weren't quite as good as at Roast and the mac & cheese wasn't quite as good as the Clarkston Union's, but both were still very good.
Since I was at a steakhouse, I had no choice but to get a filet. I chose the 12 oz. filet (medium rare as always) with zip sauce on the side. It was definitely one of the better filets I've had as it was cooked perfectly, it was very juicy and the zip sauce added to that flavor.
To top off our great dinner, we chose the Chocolate Lava Cake (served with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Raspberry Puree and Grand Marnier Cream Sauce) and this was very yummy!
Prime 29 is an excellent steakhouse that I definitely recommend. For more information, visit their website at: http://prime29steakhouse.com
